About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer at Ascent, you get to work at the heart of our customer businesses to understand their data needs, identify possible problems and help them develop solutions. You’ll join our practice of market-leading data professionals and work typically as part of a cross-functional team on customer projects, supporting their journey through digital transformation, or helping them do existing things in a much better way.
What you'll do
As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll work to design and create pipelines that transform data in a scalable and repeatable way. Producing efficient code that automates the process of ingesting and cleaning the data, you then develop and apply appropriate mechanisms so that data flows toward target data sources as required.Depending on the project, your daily responsibilities could be quite varied, but typically our Data Engineers:
You’ll also get called on from time to time to support Ascent marketing colleagues, pre-sales teams and key partners with some subject matter expertise in data engineering.
Skills and experience required
We’re looking for people with good data engineering skills, and you’ll ideally bring with you:
You’ll have experience working with data warehouse solutions, extracting and processing data in various ways using off-the-shelf tools and open-source tools. You’ll also be really familiar working with Linux or Windows operating systems and version control systems (Git).
We work in Agile methodologies as a preference, so being comfortable working in this way is important. You should be comfortable in a customer facing situation where you’ll need to communicate clearly and effectively in English – often with people who might not be as technically experienced, so good written and verbal English skills are important. You should be someone who is passionate about team collaboration and knowledge sharing, with the passion and drive to achieve goals and targets. Helping a client design and launch a new AI powered service
Working with a client to research, design and build a new digital product
Helping a client understand the art of the possible – for example, helping them to understand the needs of their customers and designing a new SaaS portal to deliver greater revenue and basket size
Redesigning critical reporting and management tools
Exploring the future of customer journeys and helping clients design and implement customer self-service and automation
Running co-creation and innovation workshops to generate break through ideas and concepts for client teams across industries
Helping a growing range of clients exploring and applying cutting-edge technologies such as Automation, IoT and Generative AI
Developing industry leading services with other people at Ascent, creating stand out services that combine data, tech, design and commerce that our customers love
You have:
You could be a designer, a consultant, a technologist or work in an in-house team. It’s not about having a fixed profile.
