About the Role 

As a Tech Lead - DevOps at Ascent,  you will be a key driver in shaping the evolution of our DevOps practices across challenging and impactful projects. You’ll work alongside a team of highly skilled DevOps engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, scalable, and reliable infrastructure solutions. Whether supporting our own digital transformation or optimizing existing processes for our customers, you will play a pivotal role in helping us deliver excellence at scale. You will lead the adoption of cutting-edge tools and techniques, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the successful execution of complex technical initiatives. 

Skills and qualifications 

  • Strong knowledge of DevOps and SRE practices, including CI/CD, IaC, incident response, and observability. 
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with hands-on experience designing scalable cloud architectures 
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and ArgoCD; experience managing containerized applications in production environments. 
  • Knowledge of service mesh solutions and workload security practices. 
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go; experience automating infrastructure with tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet. 
  • Strong understanding of DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and distributed systems architecture. 
  • Expertise with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog, including designing dashboards and alerting mechanisms for production systems. 


Organizational and Leadership Skills 

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to DevOps and SRE engineers, while encouraging skill-building opportunities and professional development. 
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, effectively resolving conflicts and maintaining a positive dynamic across departments. 
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate trade-offs, make informed decisions under pressure, and proactively identify and resolve technical and organizational challenges. 
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and adapt to changing priorities, technologies, and organizational goals. 
  • Align team goals with broader product and organizational objectives, bringing a strategic mindset to build scalable, reliable, and future-proof systems. 
  • Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize team tasks, with experience in release planning and coordinating cross-functional dependencies. 
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and progress to product teams, managers, and external stakeholders, while setting realistic expectations. 
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies in workflows, implement improvements, and establish best practices for team workflows, documentation, and automation. 


Additional Requirements

  • Fluent in German and English – both verbal and written.  
  • Availability to go to our Munich office.
