About the role 

Ascent is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Architect with expertise in Microsoft Azure to join our dynamic team. You will design and implement robust architectural solutions in this role, aligning technology with our business goals. You will engage in hands-on coding, develop proof-of-concept solutions, and make strategic technical decisions. You will also participate in pre-sales and proposal activities, ensuring optimal architectural choices. Additionally, you will lead architecture design, ensuring scalability, performance, and security, while providing technical guidance to development teams. As a key member of our architecture team, you will promote best practices and foster technical excellence across the organisation. 


Responsibilities 

  • Lead the architectural design and development of software solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. 
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Azure technologies, .NET C# development, guiding best practices, services, and architecture patterns. 
  • Run investigations and develop proof-of-concept solutions and prototypes to demonstrate feasibility and guide implementation decisions. 
  • Design scalable and high-performance Azure-based solutions, considering factors such as load balancing, auto-scaling, and caching mechanisms, while leveraging .NET C# frameworks. 
  • Conduct and deliver Azure Solution Assessments. 
  • Ensure Azure solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements, implementing measures such as encryption, identity and access management, and data protection. 
  • Architect seamless integration of Azure services with existing systems and third-party applications, leveraging APIs, messaging frameworks, and data integration technologies. 
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, guiding them in the adoption of Azure technologies, coding standards, and development practices. 
  • Identify, review, and mitigate technical risks, issues, and impediments.  
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts, project managers, and infrastructure teams to understand requirements, communicate technical solutions, and resolve architectural issues. 
  • Stay updated on emerging Azure technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and drive continuous improvement in architecture, processes, and tools, incorporating .NET C# advancements. 
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, including diagrams, design documents, and technical specifications. Establish governance processes to ensure adherence to architectural standards and guidelines. 


Qualifications 

  • A minimum of 7 years of industry experience is required, with the last 2 years in a Senior or Lead Engineer position. This role requires a proven track record of leading and architecting complex software solutions, strong leadership abilities and technical expertise. 
  • Extensive proficiency in C# and the .NET Framework, with a deep understanding of industry best practices and design patterns. 
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Azure services, including but not limited to App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Storage, Service Bus, App Insights, and Key Vault, ensuring robust and scalable cloud-based solutions. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-native architectures on the Azure platform, adhering to industry standards and best practices. 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively identify, review, and mitigate technical risks, issues, and impediments. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. The role involves communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders internally and externally. The ability to abstract complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams is essential. 
  • Proficiency with source control and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps and GIT, enabling efficient team collaboration and version control. 
  • Hands-on experience working in Agile environments, with a strong teamwork ethos and effective leadership in driving Agile practices and methodologies. 
  • Proactive and innovative approach towards continuous improvement, with a focus on enhancing technical capabilities and keeping up to date on emerging technologies and industry trends. 
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy in all architecture design and implementation aspects. 


Certifications

  • Required:  
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert 
  • Desirable: 
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert 
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate 
    • Microsoft Certified: .Net Developer 
    • Other relevant Microsoft certifications 
  • Candidates who do not currently possess the required certification will be required to obtain them within a set timeframe.
