Digital Consultant
Digital Experience function hiring in: United Kingdom
Engagement Option(s): Full Time
Work Preference Option(s): Work From Home | Hybrid | In Office

It's one thing to deliver a technical project. It's quite another to produce great valuable products that are a joy to own and use.

About You

At Ascent, we are at the early stages of building our digital experience practice, comprised of product owners, service designers, UI and UX designers, and digital consultants. We are looking to hire high-energy, talented and engaging people who love creating great software.

You could be a designer, product person, or technical with an eye for design. The important thing for us is that you have the passion and perseverance to create software products which leave a lasting experience for our customers.

About the role

Digital Consultants are engaged in the early stages of customer engagements, particularly around discovery and to the core of delivery.

Digital Consultants are pivotal to helping our customers do extraordinary things with software and data. We work in complex sectors where our depth of knowledge is vital to our credibility. Digital Consultants ensure that our teams are enabled to do what's needed to delight and not just deliver.

They articulate explanations and vision, leveraging use-case examples for less technical audiences. They break down complex problems into clear, simplified backlog work items that deliver demonstrable client value as early as possible. Digital consultants ensure we meet the end users' exact needs without fuss or bother, with simplicity and elegance that produce products that are a joy to own and use.

You'll work with exciting customers across diverse sectors, and complex challenges, on both major transformations (typically 6-18 months) and smaller-scope engagements. This is a critical customer-facing role that will require you to understand the customer business deeply, allowing you to provide value by recommending impactful solutions through effective communication with the technical team.

What you'll do

At its simplest, depending on your strengths, you will be asked to do a combination of responsibilities from product owners and designers and act as an analyst in pre-sales and the early stages of a client engagement.

Your ability to make abstract, complicated technical subjects easy to understand is fundamental. Time spent in roles where you've developed hands-on knowledge of the development lifecycle and core programming skills will be a strong foundation for success. Your skills won't just be in ensuring projects are delivered well; you have the kind of sixth sense to sniff out potential risks and issues long before they ever appear, and you don't wait for someone to tell you how to mitigate them.

Skills and Experience

We're looking for people who:

  • Help businesses connect their business strategy to implementation across different digital fields.
  • An ability to build relationships and influence at all levels to ensure continuous account growth.
  • Can lead, and have professional experience in agile project delivery.
  • Work with unclear client requirements and leverage structured techniques to work with clients to drive clarity in requirements, customer confidence and problem resolutions.
  • Assess the design assets and pick the right technological solutions for a given platform
  • Maintaining and updating a roadmap aligned with stakeholders.
  • A great sense of aesthetics and how to tell a story visually. An ability to make beautiful and clear digital artefacts is essential. Experience sketching ideas, making wireframes and creating prototypes on paper and using digital tools.
  • Validating the developed items to ensure they are in line with DoD and overall expectations.
  • Carrying out demos with users and stakeholders to further validate developed ncepts.
  • Ensure a transparent communication with key stakeholders via regular meetings and reports, highlighting plans, project status and risks as required.
  • Manage releases and validates the cost of release against the realisation benefits.

Working at Ascent

This is a hybrid role, where you can spend time at the office or work from home. This is a company where your development and learning will be taken seriously, and we'll support your professional development with training and certification, with regular feedback and review.
