We’re looking for a People Operations Administrator to provide general HR administrative support across the Ascent group, as well as processing monthly payroll. There is a broad and varied range of people administration tasks you’ll be involved in, encompassing the full employee life cycle, following regular HR processes and managing HR data and systems to ensure accuracy at all times. We’re offering this role on a 6-month fixed term contract initially, as we scale and expand our growing business, but there is potential for the role to be extended in the future. This role is part time, working 30 hours a week.

 

Your role

Joining as a People Operations Administrator, you’ll be working across our growing business, supporting recruitment, payroll and employee change processes as part of the People team. A typical week might see you handling any of these things:

 

 

  • Supporting recruitment and hiring, by drafting employment contracts and offer letters, conducting right to work checks and other employment and security processes.
  • Be the primary contact and systems administrator for queries and access levels on our HR system (BambooHR), processing documentation needed when employee changes occur and ensuring the HR System accurately reflects current employee details and changes that arise, and keeping our information compliant with GDP and other legal requirements
  • Scheduling, maintaining and collating reports that are needed by a variety of stakeholders, and supporting with monthly UK payroll processes and submission
  • Supporting with new starter process and sending out welcome packs
  • Coordinating and supporting company get togethers and office events, often working with colleagues in other teams to make these really enjoyable and successful events

 

Skills and experience needed

We’re looking for a colleague who brings some role experience of working in an HR or people function. Here’s what we think are some of the most important skills and experiences you need to be successful:

  • First and foremost, you should be a “people person” – someone who loves to work with employees, and is at their best when part of a high performing, collaborative team where taking accountability for tasks and sharing information are paramount
  • A background with some time spent in an HR or People team – this should bring you a strong working understanding of basic people practices, legislative and best practice knowledge around hiring, employment and health and wellbeing at work, as well as a good understanding of right to work and data privacy standards for the UK. If you’ve worked with things like payroll, recruitment or employee relations topics in a previous role, we would love to hear from you
  • A proven track record of using some people related systems – we use BambooHR here, but any knowledge of HCM or other HR and people data systems is a big advantage; as well as a strong general skillset in MS office tools and comfort with reporting and document preparation. Ideally, you’ll be someone who likes working in systems and you’re comfortable being a SuperUser.

We’re a team with a big focus on transparency, empathy and empowerment. Your People team colleagues are based in the UK, and 4 other countries, and this role is a great opportunity to gain experience in a scaling tech company.

We’re offering the role on 6 month fixed term contract initially on the basis of 30 hours per week.
