We’re growing our team of Product Owners to help our customers do extraordinary things with software and data. You’ll be part of an experienced team of highly skilled product owners, and work with some of the most talented software and data professionals around to do amazing things, whether it’s helping to make medical research easier and scalable, creating technology that helps protect biodiversity, or make homes smarter.

The role

Product Owners at Ascent work at the heart of creating extraordinary products for our customers. Product Owners here at Ascent are full-stack and look after all aspects of product management together with our customer. You’ll be accountable for things like:

  • Defining the vision of the product
  • Driving the product strategy
  • Creating roadmaps and prioritizing the most valuable items
  • Managing the development backlog
  • Working closely with the development team on a daily basis

You’ll define, analyse, and react to product metrics (such as Analytics, A/B testing, Pirate metrics) to provide valuable client guidance if things need to change, and work in partnership with your internal project team to keep closely aligned and in sync. We believe in MVP-first and fail-fast approaches to prove a hypothesis using experimentation with feedback for confirmation and solution validation, and we’re comfortable with emergent design rather than design upfront.

We work with a diverse range of customers across a multitude of different sectors, and you could be working on a large scale, complex digital transformation project over a long term, or on some smaller scope engagements.


The skills and expertise you’ll bring

We want to find experienced and knowledgeable product owners, from all kinds of domains and industries to build broad capability for our growing team. You’ll need to have:

  • Strong role experience as a product owner, working with agile software development or delivery teams
  • A well-rounded skillset in applying Product Owner fundamentals – using various prioritisation techniques, able to write down User stories and define acceptance criteria of them, helping to build roadmaps
  • Expertise in managing end-user UX/UI oriented products

You’ll need strong stakeholder management skills, and be able to communicate clearly and precisely in excellent English to people who may not be technical. CSPO or similar certification will be considered a valuable asset, but it isn’t really as important as a good breadth of your knowledge with a variety of product types. We place a lot of value on empathy, and you should be someone who thrives in a transparent and highly collaborative environment, able to keep your focus and momentum even if we’re working through something that is challenging or poorly defined.
