This is a challenging new role, offered as part of Ascent’s continued expansion, to lead, develop, innovate, and optimize a QA function supporting a broad range of software and data projects.


About the role:  

We have exciting and ambitious growth plans across Ascent, and QA is recognized as a critical element in enabling successful customer outcomes. This role will drive both the work that our QA team delivers as well as be influential in the quality agenda more generally. The role forms part of the Ascent Group Engineering Leadership team, and consistent with everyone in that team, will also be expected to work on customer projects in a billable capacity at around 50% utilisation.

The position is hybrid (remote mostly) and your specific salary will depend on your country of employment, and the level of expertise and knowledge you’ve gained. But, irrespective of your location and level, you’ll earn a competitive rate, and a comprehensive benefit and reward package. What you’ll do:

  • As a leader in Group Engineering, you will work to discharge the following primary requirements:
  • Lead the QA team through the project and non-project-related activities, especially related to the structure of the team, manual and automated testing practices, performance management, career development, and recruitment.
  • Set and manage standards of quality for the QA team to adhere to
  • Support colleagues across the business in their understanding of QA through proposition development
  • Be a recognized SME on QA and engage in presales and solutioning activities on an as-needed basis
  • Help our customers excel through project delivery


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Broad experience and understanding of both manual and automated testing practices, ideally covering both Software and Data environments
  • Fluent in C# and/or Typescript and/or Javascript
  • Has to experience with Selenium and/or Cypress
  • Familiar with Test Management tooling like Azure Test Plans
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the EU

You need to be familiar with Azure DevOps, Agile Mindset, and with agile practices. It is essential to have the ability to keep up to date with relevant technologies and current trends. Also, willingness and ability to travel, and work at client sites, including some international travel from time to time.

You will need to bring experience working effectively in a high-paced customer-facing role and have proven capabilities in building teams, motivating employees, and enabling a workforce to excel across the QA spectrum. You will have had prior responsibility for the successful delivery of manual and automated testing services and be driven by achieving high-quality outcomes for customers. Excellent people and communication skills are essential, as is a flexible and adaptive mindset.
