Lead UI/UX Designer

About the role:

In this role, you will lead a small team of designers and take responsibility for the UX function within Ascent. On top of that, you will be allocated to deliver measurable customer impact across engagements within a set of interesting customers, diverse, sectors and complex challenges, on both major transformations (typically 6-18 months) and smaller scope engagements.

You will be responsible for delivering the end-to-end UX process (from research to high fidelity UI’s) in your engagements as well as continuously improving the process and your team members.

As a Designer you will:

  • Take ownership and lead an empathic design approach in a client-facing context
  • Utilize the understanding of the user needs to build seamless experiences
  • Deliver clickable prototype
  • Choose fidelity, based on both the stage of the process and the feedback needed
  • Facilitate ideation workshops
  • Present and communicate proposals, both internally and to clients
  • Address and mitigate risks, based on e.g. assumptions or unknowns
  • Ensure that discoveries are shared within the team and with a client in order to work towards a shared understanding and goal for the project outcomes
  • Foster collaboration
  • Ensure that proposed solutions are technically feasible
  • Be the voice of the users where they don’t have a voice themselves


As Lead you will:

  • Promote the UX function across the company
  • Ensure that the design team is educated in the process
  • Make sure the design team has the support they need
  • Run weekly 1:1’s with both Senior and Junior Designers
  • Set career paths for team members
  • Help the Sales Team with estimating UX need/effort incoming projects
  • Making sure the voice of the team is heard on a management level
  • Report to COO


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • You will have a deep understanding of working in UX Design
  • You have experience in leading or mentoring other designers
  • A strong portfolio showcasing both your process and your visual strength
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
  • Humor and enthusiasm
